For more than two decades, Miguel and Will have shared the same philosophy: every client deserves honesty, exceptional craftsmanship, and the feeling that they've found a salon they can call home.
The Beginning
While all salons are businesses. The great salons are something else — they are relationships, built one client at a time. Miguel and Will opened the salon together in 2004. At the time, Miguel had already established his career as a hairstylist in Manhattan, so opening under his name was the natural choice. Will was still working in the insurance industry while helping build the business behind the scenes. In 2010, he joined the salon full-time, and together we've continued growing the salon ever since.
Twenty years later, every consultation, every application, every color, every cut at Miguel Lopez Salon is performed by one of us. Personally. No junior stylists. No handoffs. No assistants finishing the work.
Our clients are not appointments. They are people we have taken care of for years — sometimes for decades. That is what founder led has always meant to us. It still is.
When you visit us, you are not handed off. You are not rushed. You are listened to. We pour you a glass of wine, ask the questions that matter, and then we get to work — slowly, carefully, and entirely in service of the result you came in hoping for.
After more than twenty years serving Manhattan, we recently moved to our beautiful Fifth Avenue studio in NoMad—a space designed to reflect the experience we've always wanted our clients to have: calm, welcoming, and intentionally personal.

Miguel Lopez after graduating beauty school furthered his education in the industry with many renowned academies. His unique style and process was shaped through years on the floors of some of the most demanding rooms in the industry. International hair shows, editorial chairs, and the kind of high pressure work that builds true precision.
Miguel became a certified Hairdreams specialist in 2002, making him one of the earliest certified specialists in New York City. Over the past two decades, he has become known for creating extensions that look, feel, and move like natural hair. As a Master Colorist, he believes beautiful color should never announce itself—it should simply look effortless. Miguel co founded the salon with Will in 2004 because he believed every client deserved the same thoughtful, personalized attention every single time — not just on the first visit.

Will K
Will grew up on Long Island in a community where his reputation as a listener was built long before he ever picked up a pair of shears. He spent years in insurance before he realized the part he loved most about that work — sitting across from someone, hearing them out, helping them find a path forward — was actually the work itself, not the job. Cosmetology school followed, and the rest fell into place.
He met Miguel in 2002, and the relationship that became the partnership that became the salon was already in motion. While helping build the salon from the beginning, Will continued his insurance career until joining the salon full-time in 2010. His transition wasn't simply a career change—it was the realization that the relationships he loved building with people belonged in the salon rather than an office.
Today Will specializes in MicroLines density solutions, Keratin and texture treatments, dimensional color, and precision cuts. He is the calm in the room. He is the consultation that does not feel like a sales pitch. He is also, quietly, one of the most technically meticulous smoothing specialists in Manhattan.
